The South Fayette Takedown Club 2007 - 2008 season is right around the corner! Youth wrestling for children ages 5 to 12 years old, (as of January 1, 2007). NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! (You Do Not Have To Be A Resident Of South Fayette Township or Attend The South Fayette School District To Join.) The Team Comes Off A Successful Season that included 5 WAWA League 1st Place Winners & 10 top 4 place winners for the 2005 - 2006 Season! Plus there were 3 wrestlers that qualified for the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championships with 1 of them placing in the top 8!

Matches & tournaments begin in December & run through March/April depending on tournaments. Wrestlers are separated by age/weight brackets & compete separately in matches & tournaments. Practices are a minimum of 2 evenings a week at the South Fayette Middle School Wrestling Room.
Sign-up’s for the new season will be Sunday, October 15th & Sunday, October 22nd from 12 – 2 p.m. at the South Fayette Municipal Building.
The 2008 South Fayette "Lion Heart Classic" Super Trophy Open & 1st & 2nd Year Wrestling Tournaments are scheduled for Saturday, January 26th (Open) & Sunday, January 27st (1st & 2nd Year) at the High School Gymnasium. More details will follow soon.

WAWA stands for Western Area Wrestling Association. WAWA is a co-op of 19 schools working to promote Youth wrestling. The current participating schools are:
Aliquippa, Ambridge, Avella, Blackhawk, Burgettstown, Carlynton, East Liverpool, Edison, Freedom, Hopewell, Keystone Oaks, Montour, Moon, Next Level, Oak Glen, South Fayette, South Side, Weirton & West Allegheny
WAWA schools participate in club sanctioned matches and tournaments. Sanctioned matches are organized by the association and normally include 4 or 5 teams.
Tournaments are open to all of the schools in the club.
Match Rules:
- All wrestling follows the rules spelled out by the Association.
- Opponents are chosen by weight, age and skill level.
- Weight is established by the Team Roster. There are no weigh-ins at matches.
- No trophies or awards are given out. Approximate wrestling/team time is 4 hours.
