Students in the news…

On January 30th Tyler Manion placed 3rd at the 2005 Beachwood Brawl (Beachwood, OH) Wrestling Tournament in the 10 & Under, 75 pound class. This tournament was an Ohio Tournament of Champions National Championships qualifier. He followed that up on February 5th by again placing 3rd at the 28th Annual Cherry Hills Wrestling Classic at Fort Cherry High School. Also placing 3rd at this tournament in the 12 & Under, 80 pound class was Sean Lubin.

February 12th saw Sean and Tyler both competing in the Baldwin-Whitehall Wrestling Tournament. Sean placed 2nd in his class, 12 & Under, 80 pounds, while Tyler won the 10 & Under, 75 pound class. Not only did Tyler win but he was unscored upon for the 3rd time this season by pinning two opponents and winning his final match 10-0. The following day, February 13th saw Brian Haney placing 4th in the 12 & Under, 95 pound class at the Avella Wrestling Tournament.

The weekend of February 19th and 20th saw Tyler Manion wrestling a double-header. On the 19th he placed 2nd at the Connellsville Elementary/Jr. High Wrestling Tournament. He followed that up by placing 1st in the Franklin Regional Panther’s Den Treg F. Wentling Memorial Wrestling Tournament on the 20th. Both were in the 10 & Under, 75 pound class. Actually the Franklin Regional Tournament saw an All South Fayette finale as Tyler wrestled South Fayette 4th grader Michael Fetchet in the finals. It also turned out to be the 4th time this season that Tyler was again unscored upon. Like the Baldwin-Whitehall Tournament, Tyler scored two pins and won his final match 7-0. The Connellsville Tournament was also an Ohio Tournament of Champions qualifier and both Connellsville and Franklin Regional were Pennsylvania Youth Wrestling Top 100 Tournaments.
