Tyler attended the first-ever Kurt Angle Classic and GNC/Physical Magazine Show of Strength and World Expo, and we are happy to present photos and journal entries from his trip.

November 07, 2002:

We just came into my hotel in New Orleans. We were in a hotel because we were going to see the Kurt Angle Classic. I was very excited. I met Rulon Gardner. I met him because he was still waiting for his room and he was very nice when I went over to him. He asked me to wrestle.

Tyler and Brock Lesnar		   November 08, 2002:

We were at breakfast in our hotel. I met Brock Lesnar. I got my picture with him. He was really nice, and muscular.

Then at the bodybuilding show that was there, I got to meet Kendall Cross because he was with Kurt. He was really nice. Later I went to see a few high school matches at the Kurt Angle Classic.

November 09, 2002:

Today is the last day for the wrestling. I am going to watch the people that are the best in the World. The matches were Freestyle and Greco-Roman.


Tyler and Cael Sanderson		   Cael Sanderson won his match. He beat the returning Olympic champion in his weight. I got to meet him a few minutes after his match. I got a picture with him and his brother Cody. I was very excited to meet Cael and he asked me what my record was? I was excited to see him wrestle. He was very quick. He Ankle Picked him 5 times in a row. The score ended up being 7-2. Kurt said that Cael is going to be one of the best wrestlers ever and might be better than him.

Tyler and Chris Cormier		   Then I got my picture with Rulon Gardner. Then he picked me up and spun me around. He asked if I was going to the 2nd session that he was wrestling? I said yes.


At the bodybuilding show, I got to sneak a single leg takedown on the professional bodybuilder Chris Cormier. Before he was a bodybuilder, he wrestled.

When Rulon Gardner had his comeback match from frostbite, I was very excited to see him. He scored one point by taking down the other person. And he scored two for Fleeing. He won his match 3-0.


The difference with Greco-Roman is you can only use upper body and you can't use or attack the legs.

  At the bodybuilding show, Kurt asked me if I wanted to take a walk with him? He talked about taking vitamins to get more muscular. We walked around the expo and he asked me some questions for the T.V. show and introduced me. They videoed this for the WWE Confidential. I'm going to be on T.V. which is very exciting.

(Note: This aired on November 16, 2002 on TNN. A great segment between Kurt and Tyler was shown at the beginning of the program, where Kurt was proud of Tyler for answering "You" to the following questions: Who’s your buddy? Who’s your best friend? Who’s the strongest man in the World? Who’s unstoppable?)

Grandfather and Kurt		   Me, the WWE crew and my sister Cassie also got to ride in a limo with Kurt and Brock Lesnar. My Mom and Dad were in a van behind us with Mr. Hawk and his wife and some friends. They followed us. We dropped Brock off at the hotel.

Then we went to the reunion of Kurt's 1996 Olympic team. We went there because it was the opening for a wrestling training facility.

And that was my trip to the Kurt Angle Classic which was real exciting for me.
